Bees

My mind is like an angry swarm of bees
My mind is like an angry swarm of bees
Hot bees, bored in the trees

My mind is like an angry flock of geese
I said my mind is like an angry flock of geese
Hot geese, geese from the east

Don't you ever wonder, if you're going under
Considering all you've ever done?
There's no tomorrow, nothing left to borrow
Hifulutin affectations gone

My mind is like an empty can of beer
I said my mind is like an empty can of beer
Hot beer, beer full of tears
Hot beer, beer full of tears
Hot beer
Mmm, how queer...

Don't you ever wonder, if you're going under
Considering all you've ever done?
There's no tomorrow, nothing left to borrow
Hifulutin affectations gone

Hot bees, bored in the trees
Hot bees, bored in the trees
Bees...

Quotes:
Andy: I was motivated by the overly hot, oppressive weather squatting over Liverpool two summers ago, and also by the trials and tribulations of Ooberman (which at that time was being cruelly toyed with by the evil record industry). It was a period of endless confrontation with Dan over band direction and the line 'My mind is like an angry swarm of bees' summed up the angry tension in the air that summer. I imagined the myriad inhabitants of Liverpool also feeling hot and bothered, and the hot bees bored in the trees sounded like kids looking for trouble to get into, like the bored scallies hanging around the mean streets of Liverpool. We then brainstormed the rest of the things my mind is like... 'Hot geese, geese from the east' sounded vaguely like red hot commie geese bombers and in true Oob style, this will make you smile or scowl depending on your level of sphincterness. Later on, Dan wanted the line 'My mind is like an empty can of beer' to reflect the sad, poignant side to Ooberman i.e. even amidst the mad whirlwind of the best drunken party, there are always little moments of sadness and personal smallness. The idea to chant a repeat of the things my mind was like was an attempt to get a bit of audience participation going, and one day, you'll get that reaction at a gig or in a club! As for the 'Hot beer...hmmm how queer', again, its guaranteed to piss the sphincter police off, but its always a good thing to loosen up, and a little moment of unexpected humour sets up the next chorus perfectly, especially followed by the MTV-fast edit effect whereby the second chorus comes in a cunning beat early. The choruses are Dan's, driven on a Wildhearts tip, with lyrics reflecting a sense of struggle amidst failure and despondancy.
